Meet the Team

Sigby was born from our struggles as well-intentioned parents …

Alex Bullard
Alex’s favorite Sigby activity is Nighttime at the Beach at Discovery Park’s Nature Camp.  A native of Seattle, most people don’t know that he minored in English and American Literature. Alex is convinced there are tons of interesting things to do in Seattle, if he could only find them. He’s a fan of Jony Ive, he aspires to constantly learn, and he enjoys cooking, biking and home brewing.

Marcia Hood
Marcia’s favorite Sigby activity is Sprinkles and Sweets Halloween Cookie Decorating Class. A lover of food, her first job was at Burger King where she sported snazzy corduroy pants and a matching visor. She’s the proud mother of both a fun-loving and dramatic five-year-old girl, and a creative eight-year-old girl with a keen sense of humor. She’s a native of Boston, but she love Seattle’s culture and people. She considers a good attitude to be the key to success, and she’s directing her good attitude towards learning to cook without recipes. Marcia is a fan of the Ina Garten and she enjoys cooking, entertaining, tennis and a competitive game of PIG in basketball.

Woody Peterson
Woody’s favorite Sigby activity is Space Adventures for Van Gogh at Kirkland Parks and Recreation Center. Found somewhere in the Pacific Northwest Rainforest, he sneezes at bright lights. Woody aspires to make advancements in permaculture, and he’s the proud parent of thousands of hungry compost worms. He’s convinced that personal food production is the simplest path to freedom. Outside of Sigby, he can be found rock climbing, sailing and listening to Radiohead.

John Shepard
John’s favorite Sigby activity is Nighttime at the Beach at Discovery Park’s Nature Camp. A Seattle boy at heart, he’s a native of Pittsburgh. He’s the proud father of a gregarious one year-old son. John’s a fan of MOMA and san serif fonts, and he believes that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. He aspires to build products that are simple, expressive, rational and functional. When not at Sigby, he enjoys making things and spending time with his son.

Julia’s favorite Sigby activity is Pocock Rowing Summer Crew. She is the daughter of baby-boomers who are more hip than most people she knows. People don’t know that she writes short stories. Julia is a proud native of New Jersey (and swears she doesn’t have an accent). She is convinced otters are hilarious and adorable. She aspires to constantly challenge herself. She’s a huge fan of sharing experiences with friends and family. Julia enjoys cooking, reading, playing with friend’s dogs, and running.

Laura Christie
Laura’s favorite Sigby activity is Shoofly Farms! Most people don’t know that for a 23-year-old, she knows a whole lot about kids classes. She is native to SEATTLE. Laura is convinced that smiling, laughing and picnics with good cheeses are integral in living a happy life. She aspires to always have grand aspirations. She is a fan of Spanish paella, sunshine, and the beautiful Pacific Northwest. She enjoys eating, laughing and dancing. All which happen with the people she enjoys; family, friends and total strangers.

Katie Thompson
Katie’s favorite Sigby activity changes with the wind – so much to choose from! She’s a native of Seattle, yet she drives her SUV like she’s from the east coast. She’s the parent of a gregarious and dynamic seven-year-old girl with a crazy imagination, and a three-year-old boy who will either become a drummer or a monkey when he grows up. Katie aspires to have a clutter-free home and spend more time with family. Convinced that authenticity always triumphs, she is the personality behind the Sigby brand. She is a fan of Nuun drink tablets, hip hop music, bright colors, Nantucket and she loves the JK Wedding Entrance Dance video. She enjoys traveling and meals with good friends.

I met Katie at our ARC Board meeting last night. I am very excited about your site. I registered and also added my two granddaughters. Their Mon’s might be upset that they show up as my “daughters”. Is there going to be a grandchild option? I am sharing your site with my family, so they will get registered as the ligit parents! Thanks for your inovation and enthusiasm for keeping our families healthy and happy.
